Transition into Law Practice Program
"The goal of the one-year Transition Into Law Practice Program is to afford every beginning lawyer newly admitted to the State Bar of Georgia with meaningful access to an experienced lawyer equipped to teach the practical skills, seasoned judgment, and sensitivity to ethical and professionalism values necessary to practice law in a highly competent manner."
-Transition into Law Practice Program Executive Summary
The Transition Into Law Practice Program (TILPP) combines a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) component and a mentoring component whereby beginning lawyers are paired with a seasoned attorney for the first year of admission to the Georgia Bar. In conjunction with TILPP, GPDSC has developed its own Master Plan of mentoring experiences, as well as a mandatory training curriculum for all public defenders admitted to the practice of law since the fall of 2005. In order to comply with the requirements of TILPP, new public defenders must fulfill the yearlong mentoring relationship in addition to attending the requisite new attorney training programs sponsored by GPDSC.
